In 2023, Kyungnam University (KU) was selected by the Ministry of Education to receive the International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS) certification, solidifying its international competitiveness for the ninth consecutive year. IEQAS is conducted for certifying universities with high international competency, with the aim of expanding the recruitment of international students and enhancing the international competency of domestic students. Universities selected as IEQAS certified in both their degree programs and language training programs are eligible for various international education benefits such as ‘simplified visa issuance for foreign exchange students.
At KU's Center for International Student Services, there are various customized programs that are run for international students. They assist with entry and exit procedures, provide academic guidance through counseling, and organize a Mentoring Program that pairs local and international students to help the latter adapt to university life and provide both groups with opportunities to learn about each other's cultures and languages. Through these efforts, KU is realizing its vision of a global campus. The Dean of the Office of International Services, Hong Sun-young, said these results are thanks to all members of the institution. In her emphasis, she stated that KU will commit to optimizing education infrastructures in various aspects under the vision of 'Creating future value through a global synergy network,' with a strong focus on attracting international students and enhancing internationalization capabilities.
