The 'Blue Diamond Project,' a collaboration between the Department of Cultural Contents (DCC, led by Professor Yoo Young-jae) and Samsung Changwon Hospital (SCH), has been awarded the Grand Prize at the 14th Korea Healthcare Congress (KHC) 2023 for outstanding innovation in healthcare.
Since 2016, SCH has been running the 'Blue Diamond Project,' where employees voluntarily participate in improving the hospital's procedures. The DCC has been collaborating with SCH since 2019, focusing on engaging students in generating various ideas and collaborations to enhance the medical field.
The 'Blue Diamond Project,' awarded the Grand Prize, encompasses five missions for the hospital's future that are managed by five teams consisting of over 50 members. These missions include Communication and Organizational Culture (Neverland); Patient-Centered Service Design (Golden Princess); Improvement of Medical Systems (Nimitz); Marketing and Networking (Stiletto); and Future Strategies and Medical Product Enhancement (Pirates).
In particular, the DCC actively participated in the 'Pirates' team, focusing on the future strategy and improvement of medical products. An innovative video telling the story about the improvement of SCH’s medical products, which is a parody of the entertainment show ‘The Story of the Day Biting the Tail,’ was selected as an example of innovation in the competition.
Choi Su-jin, a student from the DCC, expressed, "It was a great opportunity to engage in major projects with SCH and the DCC. I was able to gain practical experience. I hope that there will be more diverse opportunities for the students in the DCC through continued collaboration with SCH."
