Kyungnam University (KU) held the '2023 Peace Forum' in collaboration with Japan's Soka University (SU) and Taiwan's Chinese Culture University (CCU) at Soka University's Global Square on Wednesday, October 25. The forum was held under the great theme of “Ways to Promote Cooperation and Coexistence: Beyond Power and Interdependence." Prior to the event, KU President Park Jae Kyu shared his views on the forum's development direction, friendly cooperation among the three universities, and the establishment of peace in East Asia in line with changes under the current geopolitical situation of Northeast Asia. At the opening ceremony, he said that interdependence provides a good opportunity to develop complementary cooperation and coexistence amid deepening conflicts in the international community, and that this Peace Forum will provide an excellent venue for deeper discussions.
In the first session, Jonathan Luckhurst, a professor at SU, delivered a keynote speech on "Cooperation, Coexistence, and Competitive Pluralism in Global Politics." The second session, titled "Ways to Promote Cooperation and Coexistence," featured a presentation by Professor Kim Jung from the Graduate School of North Korean Studies on "Democratic Cooperation Against the Militarization of Economic Interdependence."
