Kyungnam University (KU) has received recognition in the evaluation of the 2022 International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS) by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea. IEQAS is the system that supports international students through evaluation by the Ministry of Education, the National Research Foundation of Korea, and the Ministry of Justice. This time, KU has been highly praised for the degree courses and language training courses it offers. Now, KU became the first university in South Gyeongsang Province to have received IEQAS recognition for the past nine consecutive years since 2017.
KU have provided various programs to improve the wellbeing of international students: major education based on CBI (Content-Based Instruction), major mentoring, Korean language proficiency training programs, international student promotion groups, and so forth. In addition, KU has been given various advantages related to education programs including a simplifyed visa issuance from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice. The recognition period of KU is until February 2026. Hong Sun-young, the Dean of the Office of International Services at KU, said, “This achievement is from all of our efforts for improving the internationalization capabilities, despite difficult circumstances such as Covid-19,” adding, “KU will try to provide education and to attract international students, sparing no investment in the establishment of the educational infrastructure.”
