Recently, the Kyungnam University (KU) Department of Webtoon and Design celebrated a major achievement by winning gold, silver, and bronze awards at the 29th International Design Trend Concours.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and organized by the Korea Society of Design Trend, the International Design Trend Concours aims to enhance appreciation for the diversity, creativity, and value of design while fostering Korean design culture through an international competition. This year’s exhibition received over 1,200 submissions in categories including graphic design, illustration, digital design, fashion design, and industrial design. After two rounds of selection, numerous creative and high-quality works by university and graduate students from both domestic and international institutions were chosen.
Among them, third-year student Lee Do-gyeom from KU’s Department of Webtoon and Design was awarded the President's Gold Prize by the Korea Federation of Design Organizations for his piece titled “Do You Know Hip-Hop?” Third-year student Seo Ye jin received the Silver Prize for her piece, “Villains Make the World Beautiful.” Additional KU students received bronze and special selection awards.
Department Chair Lee Young-mi remarked, “Our students grow by participating in this competition each year, enhancing their skills and experiencing a sense of accomplishment through new challenges. I hope that their passion for creative challenges continues to bring positive results.”
