Hello, I am Kim Tae-wan, a graduate of Kyungnam University's Department of English Education, and I worked as a reporter for the Kyungnam Times (KT) until last year. After graduation, I always thought that one day I would write an article for the "Letters to the Editor" section as an outsider. I’d like to express my gratitude to KT for giving me this opportunity. Since I recently graduated, I still feel like I should be writing articles every quarter and preparing them for publication. So, when the magazine is published, I often visit the KT website to see which articles have been included. These moments make me nostalgic for my college days, and I find myself thinking that if I could go back to my freshman year, I would play harder and live even more passionately.
I can confidently say that my time with KT was one of the best experiences of my college life. I was able to study English while receiving scholarships, meet friends from various departments, and participate in many different programs. The benefits were numerous. However, it saddens me that many students don’t participate just as eagerly because they lack interest in campus life or feel it might be too challenging.
You’ve probably heard Nike's slogan, "Just do it." Although I haven’t achieved great success in life or accumulated extensive experience, as someone who has completed college, I want to encourage current and prospective students to adopt the mindset of "just try anything." By embracing the joys of success, the bitterness of failure, and engaging in various activities, I believe your college life will become much richer. From my own experiences, both my successes and failures have laid a strong foundation that will help me tackle future challenges. I’ve developed a positive mindset of "let’s give it a try, no matter what."
Lastly, knowing the effort that the current KT reporters put into each issue, I want to thank you all for your hard work in producing the English-based magazine.
I also want to extend my sincere thanks to the professors, directors, team leaders, and all others who provide tremendous support for KT.
