Hello, my name is Hong Joon-hyung, and I am a student in the field of social science at Suncheon National University. Recently, I discovered the Kyungnam Times (KT), Quarterly University Journal, through a friend’s recommendation. I was surprised to learn that the latest issue was already the 206th edition, a tribute to the paper’s long-standing history and the dedication of its student writers. As I explored the newspaper’s content, one article from Issue 205 particularly stood out: “Will genetically modified foods benefit the future of humanity?” The article presented both the pros and cons of GMOs in a well-balanced and structured manner, covering topics such as food security, environmental concerns, and ethical issues.

What impressed me most was the clarity and maturity of the arguments. Rather than pushing one viewpoint, the article allowed readers to understand both sides and form their own opinions. It was well researched and thoughtfully written, demonstrating that the KT is more than just an English learning tool—it’s a platform for critical thinking and meaningful discussion. The students' ability to engage with such complex issues in English was inspiring.

Reading the KT gave me a new appreciation for student journalism. It reminded me how important it is to have spaces where students can share their voices and explore global and local topics. I look forward to reading more articles in the future, and I even hope to contribute one day. This experience showed me that universities are filled with thoughtful perspectives worth sharing.
