A workshop was held on December 19, 2022 at the International Seminar Room in Kyungnam University’s (KU) Main Building to establish the Institute for K-Democracy Studies. The workshop was attended by Park Jae-yoon, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Jung Eun-sang, Professor of School of Liberal Studies and Director of the Center for University News and Press, Jung Sung-ki, Professor of Economics and Finance, and many professors who are interested in establishing the research institute. The Institute for K-Democracy Studies aims to inherit and develop the spirit of the Korean democracy movement based on in-depth study and education. In addition, various contents and programs will be developed and operated so that a mature democratic spirit can be established in the region. Park Jae-yoon, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said, "Kyungnam University has a historical record as the first university in Korea by participating in the 3·15 (March the 15th) Democracy Movement which was the beginning of representative democratic movements,” adding, “I hope that today will be a meaningful time for us to share the purpose of establishing the Institute for K-Democracy Studies and to further develop the "democracy" that we have inherited and reserved with all our blood and sweat.“
