Kyungnam University (KU, President Park Jae Kyu) announced that it signed an academic exchange agreement with Hawaii Pacific University (HPU, President John Gotander) to foster global future talent. In 2018, it signed an academic exchange agreement with HPU and continued to exchange for mutual improvement of the two universities by providing overseas training programs which specialize in local health and welfare and tourism to students of KU's Department of Nursing and School of Tourism Studies. The agreement extended the existing academic exchange agreement by five years and promised to continue mutual cooperation in expanding the field of international exchange majors and building English and other educational programs until 2027. In addition, it will provide various practical experiences to students majoring in ‘Nursing and Health Sciences’ and ‘Hotel and Tourism Management’ and actively cooperate in discovering educational values and fostering future talents at both universities by strengthening student capabilities through experience-based learning. Officials attended the signing ceremony, including Park Jae Kyu, President of KU, Jennifer Walsh, Vice President of HPU, Kim Sun-hyang, Chairperson of the University of North Korean Studies, and Mani Sehgal, Deal of College of Professional Studies of HPU. The HPU is located in Honolulu and Kaneohe. It is a private university with more than 40 undergraduate courses.
