The Office of International Services (OIS) at KU held a meeting for all departments in the AMP classroom on the first floor of the Changjogwan on Thursday, July 14. About 40 chairs of each department attended the meeting, which consisted of a greeting of the vice president for Public Relations, a presentation by the chief of OIS regarding the current status of attracting and managing international students, the time for listening to difficulties and suggestions, and free discussion. The OIS expressed its willingness to actively resolve major issues such as improving Korean language skills for international students through various Korean language education programs, and to improve educational infrastructure through communication with the headquarter department. In his greetings, Vice President for Public Relations Choe Ho-seong said, “Attracting international students should be approached not only in terms of securing educational finances, but also in terms of the role of completing a global win-win network by providing opportunities for foreign students who want to experience the elevated status of Korean education and change their lives.” The Chief of OIS Hong sun-young said, “OIS will make more efforts to listen to the opinions of the departments, maintain an organic relationship with the educational field, and make the campus of KU globalized.” KU has been gaining a reputation as an excellent university in the region for attracting and managing international students, has been accredited by International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS) by the Ministry of Education for six consecutive years. As of the first semester of 2022, 464 international students are enrolled in our university, and nearly 500 international students are expected to attend in the second semester.
