Kyungnam University (KU) was recently accredited by the Korean University
Accreditation Institute (KUAI) of the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE)
in the 2021 University Institution Evaluation Accreditation. The university institution
evaluation and accreditation system was introduced to improve the quality of
university education, enhance university educational performance and accountability,
strengthen and specialize university competitiveness, and secure international
recognition.
This evaluation consisted of five evaluation areas: university ideology and
management, curriculum and teaching and learning, teachers and employees, student
support and facilities, and finally university performance and social responsibility. As
a result, 14 universities, including KU, were accredited to maintain their qualifications
for five years. Following the selection of "General Financial Support University" from
the 2021 University Basic Competency Diagnosis and the obtaining of the “Best” grade
for the second consecutive year in University Innovation Support Project Performance
Evaluation, KU was also accredited in this evaluation. In doing so, KU's excellence as a
regional innovation university was announced nationwide.
