KU was selected as a 'general financial support university' based on the results of the "2021 University Basic Competency Diagnosis" organized by the Ministry of Education. The University Basic Competency Diagnosis is a policy that evaluates the appropriate size and quality of education of universities. This policy evaluates the components that should be equipped as a higher education institution every three years. In this evaluation, KU was selected as a general financial support university in recognition of the competitiveness of the university in six categories: performance of the development plan, educational conditions, the accountability of operating a university, class and curriculum operation, student support, educational performance. In particular, it has proven superiority in major indicators such as the rate of securing full-time teachers, the rate of reduction in education costs, support for student learning skills, career and psychological counseling, and support for employment and start-up. As a result, KU was selected as a 'general financial support university' in this evaluation and will receive general financial support for 3 years until 2024. KU will also be able to participate in the national scholarship and student loans and the government's financial support projects. President Park Jae Kyu said, "Thanks to all the members of KU's efforts, the selection of a general financial support university in this university basic competency diagnosis also paid off. And KU, which has been growing with the region, will further strengthen the basic capabilities of universities to make a new leap forward into a prestigious sustainable university."
