People have their own goals in life. Among those goals, happiness is the one most people pursue. Then, what should we do to be happy? Some people live a tiring day: studying and working hard to become happy. However, others make no effort and just complain about why they are not happy. In this situation, Anatole France, a French novelist, said “A person is never happy except at the price of some ignorance.” This means happiness is a result that only those who make a ceaseless effort can enjoy. This wise saying made me reflect on my ignorance toward happiness. I heard a lot about successful people via TV and SNS nowadays. Every time I saw these people, I thought they succeeded and felt happy because they were so lucky. That is to say, I have judged them on their successful results not thinking about their efforts. Sometimes, I have regarded happiness as something that fortunate people could get. However, the words of Anatole France have changed my mind. I have come to realize that true happiness can only be felt if we experience many things and go through mistakes and the joy of success. In other words, happiness is not something we can have when we are ignorant, but something we can get when we are constantly working tirelessly. If you feel unhappy with yourself, you need to reflect on your life. Think about how much you are doing your best in a given environment and whether you are well qualified to enjoy happiness. Happiness will surely exist next to you if you keep living your life to the fullest.
