KU held the opening ceremony of the Yeongnam Unification Education Center on June 16th. This ceremony was organized by KU and the Yeongnam Unification Education Center and sponsored by the Unification Education Institute of the Ministry of Unification. KU has been recognized for its excellence as a reunification and security characterization university by successfully carrying out the Ministry of Education's project to train experts on unification and security in preparation for the unification era, the Ministry of Unification's project to promote Unification Education Leading University, International Forum on the Korean Peninsula(KGF), and overseas project to support the academic exchange of North Korea and reunification studies. This center will play a role in providing a balanced education of integrated reunification by strengthening reunification capabilities in the five regions of Gyeongnam, Busan, Daegu, Gyeongbuk and Ulsan, and by establishing a unified education platform in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era to expand social unification education governance. Park Jae-kyu, the president of KU, will head the first center for the Yeongnam Unification Education Center. President Park said in a welcoming speech, "I would like to thank the honored guests for attending the opening ceremony of the Yeongnam Unification Education Center today. This center will do its best to create a new platform for peace and reunification education through engagement, sympathy and open communication with the local community."
